The custodial death report (CDR) had the following to say about the death of the inmate whose family has raised many questions:
- The decedent was booked in the jail on retaliation charges on March 13, 2023. While housed in a multi-occupancy cell on May 16, 2023, the decedent pressed the intercom button, fell to the floor, and crawled towards the dayroom while grabbing his stomach.
- Officers and medical staff responded and noted the decedent complained of stomach pain. The decedent was transported to the clinic where he became unresponsive. Lifesaving measures began, and paramedics arrived. The paramedics assumed lifesaving measures and transported the decedent to a nearby hospital. At 7:32 AM of the same day, a medical doctor pronounced the inmate deceased.
