(Continuation of) 4 Texas County Jails are Recently Cited for Noncompliance with §273.6(3)
Van Zandt County Jail is located at 1220 W Dallas St, Canton, TX 75103. The jail was cited for alleged noncompliance with two minimum jail standards of operation per a January 25, 2021, jail inspection report. Included is a failure to meet requirements in §273.6(3).
- An inspector with the Texas Commission on Jail Standards (TCJS) reviewed the Van Zandt County Jail restraint chair logs, and it indicated that on multiple occasions the 15-minute observation requirement was exceeded by 1 to 17 minutes.
Uvalde County Jail is in Uvalde, Texas, 78801, at 339 King Fisher Lane. In a December 16, 2020, jail inspection report, a TCJS inspector cites the jail for noncompliance with four minimum jail standards, including §273.6(3).
- Documentation revealed that 15-minute observations of inmates in the restraint chair were not conducted as required.
