Two Deaths in Georgia’s DeKalb County Jail Were Kept Under Wraps

Investigators recently discovered that the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) did not notify the press about the deaths of two inmates who died in August 2025. The Medical Examiner’s Office was contacted, and they provided a list of deceased inmates. The names of two men were the ones that went unreported.

Oscar Federico Arreola Frasco, 33, was pronounced deceased on August 23, 2025. Derrick Roebuck, also 33, was pronounced deceased two days later.

A spokesperson for the DCSO said they are not required by law to make announcements about custodial deaths. The spokesperson went on to say that the incidents are public records and can be requested anytime through open records, and they went into the handling of sensitive information. The DCSO is sometimes more concerned about supporting the next of kin, although they aim to be transparent.
