Walmart Inc. in Corpus Christi is Cited After an OSHA Inspection-Pt2
A Walmart in Corpus Christi, Texas, was inspected by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in February 2020. Subsequently, Walmart Inc. in Corpus Christi was issued six citations for alleged violations of OSHA safety standards.
There are many dangers that can arise in big box stores such as Walmart-Inc, Home Depot, Office Depot, and Amazon. None of these employers are likely participants to the workers’ comp program in Texas. However, each has the same duty to provide a safe work environment for employees.
In addition to the potential hazards mentioned below, typical dangers in warehouse settings include forklifts and pallet jacks.

Safety standard 1910.305(g)(2)(iii) requires employers to ensure that cables and flexible cords are connected to fitting and devices so that strain relief is provided. This is intended to prevent pull from being transmitted directly to terminal screws or joints.

Workplace labeling ensures that all containers of hazard chemicals in the work environment are tagged, labeled, or marked in any of the approved manners. This includes possibly pictures, symbols, product identifiers, and words. At the least, general information must be provided about the dangers posed by the chemicals. Employees should be informed regarding the specific health and physical hazards of the hazardous chemical.
